Skye Cervone, Ph.D.

Welcome! I am an ACUE Certified Instructor of English at Florida Atlantic University. I have taught courses in composition, short fiction, drama, creative nonfiction, Animal Studies, Science Fiction and Fantasy Literature, and literary theory, and I currently serve on the FAU Writing Program's AI Task Force. I am passionate about developing critical thinking and effective communication in my students, with job market and job performance metrics in mind.

I have a Ph.D. in Comparative Studies from FAU. While my M.A. work focused on the Fantasy literature of Lord Dunsany, my dissertation, “Living Capital: Situating Animals within Capitalist Modes of Production in Science Fiction,” looks at capitalism's relationship to animals in Science Fiction. I served as the Public Information Officer for the International Association for the Fantastic in the Arts (IAFA) from 2016-2023, and I also served as the IAFA Student Caucus Representative from 2014-2016.
